Mama Mallard's Family

Mama Mallard's eggs began hatching late Sunday afternoon.  I was so excited!  I checked on her constantly!  We made sure to get up early Monday, Memorial Day, so we didn't miss her taking her babies to the lake.  Around 6:30 a.m. she proudly paraded her three new, beautiful ducklings to the lake.  My son was the lucky one that assisted the babies over the curb.  He wanted to keep one. :)
We did video, but for some reason I'm having trouble uploading the video.  It's about 4.5 minutes long, so maybe it's too long??
As you can see mama was on a mission!  She wasn't easy to keep up with!  Hope you enjoy!

Proud mama making way for her babies.

Kyle helped the little ones over the curb.
Mama did thank him. :)

I'm back!  Now where is Mr Mallard???

This is the babies first swim...awww!

That Sweet Marie and her family were just as nice as the squirrels said they were. :)

Aren't they so cute?!?!
Such a proud mommy!

It was a beautiful experience for us all...

Awwww! I think my favorite is the next to last picture, it really showcases how tiny and fluffy they are! I have probably never seen them this young after the hatching. The waiting has paid off big time!!!

These photos are so cute - you mean ducks are born and can walk and swim immediately? They were beautiful and your son was so sweet. sandie

Aw, that was worth getting up early. Mama and her little ones are just adorable. You got some fantastic shots of the family, my favorite one is mama, with the babes gathered around her, looking at you to say thanks.

Try loading the video to You Tube first then add it here.

Awe Marie... I did enjoy reading this post and admiring your photos. What a great experience and honor to have Momma Mallard nesting in your back yard, and then to have 3 precious baby ducks waddling around and heading to the lake for the first swim and all. And it was nice that your son was able to take part in helping them make it safely to the lake. Wow! Makes me smile and so glad you shared this with us on your blog.

Do you still see them along the lake from time to time. It would be nice if you can, and do another update.
Hope all is well. Have a great day.
Hugs, Dianne :)
