Not A Favorite Of Mine

Whenever I see spiders or webs I'm reminded of a not  so happy time.  About twenty years ago I was bit by a Brown Recluse.  It was on the inside of my ankle and I thought I had a bad mosquito bite.  I ended up in the emergency room!  I had to stay off my feet for a few weeks and take meds.  I know  I'm one lucky girl!  I was only left with a small scar and it could have been so much worse since Brown Recluse spiders are deadly.
Have any of you had an up close and personal experience with the eight legged creatures???
I spotted this web in my oak tree and just had to take a pic.
Spiders are one of nature's great engineers.

i had a workers comp spider bite in my office a few years ago. i was sitting at my computer and i felt a sting under my arm where it pressed up against by body. it started to swell and sting and got a hard center and was turning red, my boss said that is a spider bite and sent me to the walk in clinic, they gave me a tetanus shot and told me to come back in a week. i was the joke of the call center with my trips to doc on workers comp.

My great grandmother got bitten by a brown recluse and always had a scar on her forehead from it.

thankfully i've not been bitten by anything serious (unless you count scorpions). that would definitely make me spider-shy, though.

I've never had a close call thankfully. Holy smokes you got lucky, I've heard stories about the brown recluse

Marie, I hope everyone enlarges your photo of the web. It is beautiful in the sunlight. I have filled a complaint with our local spiders. They all have messy webs, never anything pretty like this one.

I've been lucky and had no serious run ins with spiders. Yellow Jackets and cats are another story.

Are you ever lucky. By what everyone say it could have been much worse.
I almost walked into a big spider web in Hawaii and that was enough to really scare me. I dont know that we have that kid or really harmful spiders in Alberta Canada but I could be wrong. I just know I really hate them.

I've had some pretty nasty spider bites. Not fun.

I got bitten and didn't know what by. I got a red ring around my arm and went to the doctor who said it was a spider. It took some strong antibiotics to get it taken care of.

Tooooooo many 8 leggers...only regular house style. But they give me a shiver...then I get rid of them...Hey, I did not invite them in.

Oh my stars ~ how scary! My son used to be horribly allergic to spider and mosquito bites. I remember many trips to the emergency room. Not fun!

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Never any serious spider issues...
just a funny one.
We had Florida friends visiting and I was sitting on the floor of one of my kid's bedrooms.
I was picking up a bunch of small toys and plastic figurines.
They kept a box of these in their car for play.
I picked up a "spider"...
it was a wolf spider for real.
Those things can be huge.
And they jump.
Which this one did.
And so did I...a couple of feet backwards :)

I am SO glad your spider story had a BLESSED ending.

What a beautiful capture. Great shot of this spiderweb. It is hard to believe that something so creepy, could build something so amazing as these webs. I love to sit and watch them busy at work.
They really are fascinating. I am not a lover of spiders by any means.

I have no spider stories to tell. So glad yours had a happy ending. God was watching over you, Marie.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Dianne :)
