Thrift Store Treasures

I truly enjoy thrift store treasure hunting.  While visiting a Goodwill thrift store recently I found this unique painting.  I immediately called my son and described it to him and he asked me to buy it for him. My son is a bit of an artist himself and he likes unique items like his mama. :)
I did buy the painting at the extremely fair price of $5.99.  My son really likes it!  We looked up the artist on her website and apparently she has been selling these paintings for $100 to 150 each!  On the back her name is painted on, SybilNestor.com
She paints on old windows and it almost looks 3-D.  I wish you could see that is the pics, but it's really one of those things you need to see in person.  Anybody want to visit Orlando? LOL
Apparently she travels Florida selling her paintings and will be traveling to New York soon as well.  Pretty cool!
Do you shop thrift stores???  I just love the fact that you can find such unique and very unexpected items. :)
There's a lot of difference in lighting in these pics.
The sand looks totally real!
It measures 24"x25"

What a neat find! I do wish Goodwill would stop raising their prices all the time though.

I do like that painting! Neat too that you were able to find out something about the artist too! What a great find too! I read recently how someone bought a painting at a Goodwill store and then found out it was by a famous artist and worth a lot of money.

I know there are bargains at thrift stores; I like to go there and get clothes since I work at home, I don't need to pay $30 for a top.

If one knows their stuff, I am sure they can find great things to buy there and then re sale on eBAY. I know in my dealing with hubby's parents' estate, I can see why some people who don't have time to dispose of things like we are doing would just bag it all up and take it to Goodwill with lots of valuable items given away. Which if Goodwill takes the time to research it, they too in turn could turn a little profit on things.

Having said all that, I do like the painting!

Are you saying that you found a painting worth a hundred and fifty for six dollars. You did good. It was pretty but hard to see.

Hey have you ever heard of the Holy Land Experience in Orlando?

That is very different; what a great idea!
Which I would love to copy if I had any painting talent :)
(not gonna happen :)
I, too, love Goodwill and thrift stores.
I've often thought I would love a vacation where we visit libraries and thrift stores instead of sightseeing.

My sister and I were just talking about how we hate to shop anywhere except thrift stores. What a great find you got. The thrill of the hunt is so wonderful.

What a clever idea! It'd be perfect for a room without windows.

This painting is unique. I've never seen anything like the beach through a window pane. The price you paid is a real deal of a bargain.
