Opossum In The Neighborhood

This guy was hanging out on a brick wall in my neighborhood just a couple of nights ago.  I didn't have my camera, so I had to go on home grab hubby, a camera and a banana.  Luckily when we returned he was still there.  He seemed like he enjoyed being the center of attention.  I've only had one experience rescuing an Opossum.  It was a baby that had been found and I gave it gatorade to keep it from becoming dehydrated.  Sandra aka MadSnapper has some great memories of her son rescuing Opossums and other animals.  I just love hearing about people, especially children, helping animals.  Hope everyone is having a fun weekend!

He's so ugly he's cute!

A face that only a mother can love.

Actually, I think he's a cutie.

He's waiting for us to leave, so that he can climb down
the wall to get the banana.

Finally...I thought they would never leave. :)

And The Runt Gets The Walnut

Hubby had the idea to put our last few mixed nuts in the backyard to see who would take on the challenge of getting them open.  It was suprising to us when we caught Mama Squirrel's runt, last baby still in the nest with Mama, sizing up the largest nut on the ottoman.  He wanted that walnut and there was no stopping him. THH!  Hope I didn't post too many pics, but we really wanted everyone to enjoy this cute show.  I just love animals!

He's being very careful...

He decided that the coast is clear...

And he grabs the largest nut...

What to do now???

I just know I have a winner...

Mama does this all the time...

I think I hear someone...

Uh oh...there she is...

Mama came and ran her little runt boy home!
It happened so fast, it was like a whirlwind!
He didn't drop the nut and it went into the nest with him. :)

My First Barn Post

While on our drive last weekend I was looking for barns.  I keep seeing
wonderful barn photos on other blogs like Theresa's (TexWisGirl) at
http://run-a-roundranch.blogspot.com/

On our way home I spotted it!  There it was, a little lonely red barn...cute as a button!  The teenage son was happy to do a uturn and take me back for a photo shoot, anything to drive more. :)  I couldn't get pics from every angle, but beggers can't choosers. :)

do you think that's a sunlight on the roof??

so lonely...

looks like there may be a tractor and trailer under the bushes

so happy to have found this little barn :)     Linking to BarnCharm

Under Construction

This past weekend hubby, son and I went exploring things going on in Orlando.  We headed south of the Orlando International Airport.  What we found was a lot of new construction.  A Nemours hospital is under construction, a new UCF medical campus and Orlando's VA Medical Center.  This is where hubby will be getting his future check-ups.  It's a large and impressive building and so very much needed!

More Backyard Treasures

The beautiful cardinal is a vibrant red.  He’s known for the crest upon his head.
His heavy bill is surrounded by black.  Bugs, fruit, and seeds are a favorite snack.
A backyard favorite, high he rates.  He’s the state bird of seven states.

I really should clean my windows. :)

This is hanging directly in front of my garden window in my kitchen.
Her tail is almost touching the dirty window...THH!

Roxanne, Rambo & Rocket

My fur babies are always hearing me talk about fur babies from other blogs.  They made it loud and clear that they wanted to be in the spotlight too. :)  So here are my fur babies...ta daaaaaaa!
Roxanne Love will be seven in March

Roxy came from a farm.  She had nine siblings!

Rambo will be four in May

He's a rescue doggy. :)

This is Rocket, don't let this face fool you...he DID do it!  Tee Hee!

I found Rocket at the animal shelter.  His days were up and had even
been extended.  I filled out the paperwork, paid a small fee
and picked him up a few days later.

This is Rocket after a long, hard day of harassing and pestering
his two older siblings.  It's a tough job, but someones
got to do it.  :)

Birds And Bread = Pandemonium

A man showed up at the park with bags of bread and the birds greeted him with a lot of squawks.  It was feast time for the birds and picture time for me. :)
Can you spot the bread?

I just love how this Robin is putting it's brakes on. :)

Heading home with food for the little ones.

It's All In The Wings

My son and I went to a local park to hang out together.  There were a couple of guys down by the water that started feeding the birds.  It was some good timing for us.  Birds can be very graceful and entertaining.
Ducks are always entertaining!
On July 4th 2009 I rescued two Mallard ducklings from a storm drain.  It had been raining
and Mama Duck crossed the street with her babies and two slipped  in the drain.
Some neibhbors asked me to help.  After finally scooping them to safety
I returned them to back to Mama Duck.
The reunion was so wonderful!

I think the seagull at the top of this pic is so beautiful and graceful.

Hubby thought this pic was awesome!
