Thrift Store Treasures

I truly enjoy thrift store treasure hunting.  While visiting a Goodwill thrift store recently I found this unique painting.  I immediately called my son and described it to him and he asked me to buy it for him. My son is a bit of an artist himself and he likes unique items like his mama. :)
I did buy the painting at the extremely fair price of $5.99.  My son really likes it!  We looked up the artist on her website and apparently she has been selling these paintings for $100 to 150 each!  On the back her name is painted on, SybilNestor.com
She paints on old windows and it almost looks 3-D.  I wish you could see that is the pics, but it's really one of those things you need to see in person.  Anybody want to visit Orlando? LOL
Apparently she travels Florida selling her paintings and will be traveling to New York soon as well.  Pretty cool!
Do you shop thrift stores???  I just love the fact that you can find such unique and very unexpected items. :)
There's a lot of difference in lighting in these pics.
The sand looks totally real!
It measures 24"x25"

Here Kitty Kitty...

Foxy is stopping in to show you how big and beautiful she is. :)  She and the pups have been having a blast, especially her and Rocket!  Rambo and Roxanne still try to hunt her playfully and she swats them across their noses...so funny!  She once jumped on Rambo's head!  It was so funny!  You could see her biting him and digging in her nails, but Rambo didn't feel a thing thanks to his thick fur...lucky Rambo!

If you have dogs and cats, do they get along???

I'm four months old now. :)

This is my favorite toy...a bear that rattles.

I like to hide my bear in my mommy's shower..LOL

Hello Monday

This beautiful bloom was the first thing I notice when I walked into my backyard this morning.  A few posts ago I told you about the seeds that Sandra, aka Mad Snapper, had mailed me.  Well, this is also from Sandra.  This is a Powder Puff.  You've seen lots of these on Sandra's blog, her backyard is full of gorgeous flowers and plants.  I'm really enjoying watching all the growing stages of these gorgeous flowers.  Thanks again Sandra!

Both faith and fear sail
into the harbor of
your mind, but
only faith should
be allowed to anchor.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday!  I have a to do list a mile long, but right now I'm about to check out all the fabulous blogs I follow and see what my friends are up to. :)
Hugs!

Not A Favorite Of Mine

Whenever I see spiders or webs I'm reminded of a not  so happy time.  About twenty years ago I was bit by a Brown Recluse.  It was on the inside of my ankle and I thought I had a bad mosquito bite.  I ended up in the emergency room!  I had to stay off my feet for a few weeks and take meds.  I know  I'm one lucky girl!  I was only left with a small scar and it could have been so much worse since Brown Recluse spiders are deadly.
Have any of you had an up close and personal experience with the eight legged creatures???
I spotted this web in my oak tree and just had to take a pic.
Spiders are one of nature's great engineers.

We Have Lift Off

There are a lot of Peafowl in the neighborhood that my parents live in.  One day as we were leaving I saw this crew walking down the sidewalk, so I did what any good blogger would do...tell hubby to stop the car!  I had my handy dandy camera in hand.  I know these birds can fly, but it still cracks me up to see them sitting high in the Oak trees.  I had never caught one on camera lifting off before now.  Not the greatest photo, but well worth the time. :)
Happy & safe weekend to all!
This just makes me laugh!

Mama Did It Again

Most of you that visit my blog have caught on to my love for animals. :)  I've posted a few pics of a squirrel that we call Mama.  She always has a nest in our large Oak tree that's located in our backyard and she answers to her name...really!
We knew she had babies in our tree, but until just a couple of days ago we could only hear them.  I caught Mama and one of her babies out and about together yesterday.  They're really entertaining and just so cute!
That's the baby on bottom...I just love moments like this.

Am I cute or what??? :)

Last Gardenia Flower

I walked outside into my backyard and this beautiful Gardenia flower caught my eye.  Then I realized it's the last flower on my Gardenia bush.  I wonder since it is all alone on this large bush that it seemed even more beautiful to me. It does seem that sometimes when you realize something may be gone temporarily or permanently that you give it more thought, more attention.
Happy September friends!
