Florida Gators

Hubby and I took a drive out by Orlando International Airport.  We usually see some critters out and about.  We stopped by a huge drainage ditch where we had seen storks, turtles and rabbits before.  As we approached the ditch we heard something hit the water quickly, way too fast for a turtle.  Hubby then spotted the little creatures...baby alligators!  Which means Mama is close by!  Needless to say we didn't stay long! LOL  In every body of water in Florida there is a good chance a gator is in it.
They were only about 10 inches long.
Next time I will post photos of the little gator our son and his friends played with. LOL

You can see the stripes on this one.

This is their home...

Had a hard time seeing this one.  Mother Nature knows camouflage!

John's parents did live in FL and I was always scared to see the gators.

How neat to see babies!

Except for their heads, they almost look like a snake in the water! You are a brave woman, Marie, to get that close. Just call me "Chicken". :) That's a neat shot of the tunnels, too, with the reflection!

I wouldn't have hung around that spot very long. I'd be afraid I run upon momma!

I think I would have been worried about that mamma gator sneaking up behind me :)

At that age they are sort of cute. I have to admit I had the same thought as TexWisGirl, Betty White and Lake Placid.

I wonder what else lives in there? Can't wait to see the baby gator your son played with.
