Backyard Fox

This cute fox was in our backyard just a couple of days before Thanksgiving.  He or she was on the move and I was taking pics through our sliding glass doors.  We're aware of a fox den not far from our home, which is sad because we live in the city and the roads are busy.
About a month ago our son was coming home around 1 a.m. and saw a deceased fox in the road.  He pulled over and moved him to under a tree.  He told us that he could hear another fox crying not far away.  Their den is nearby where the fox was found, so the others were probably watching my son.  Here in Cary if you call and report there's an animal on the road or roadside they will come and pick it up.  We now have that number in all of our cell phones.
As far as our cute visitor, I sure enjoyed watching him or her...absolutely beautiful.
what a sweet face

love those eyes and ears

look how well camouflaged

he must be eating suet, birdseed and maybe a few peanuts

Sweet little fox friend. Sad about the one killed in the road though. Poor thing.

I saw this cutie before letting the dogs out. From what I've read about them, he/she would have fled...they don't like confrontation. When he did leave, he walked straight through the fence! We only left three or four inches between the slats.

What awesome pictures! He is beautiful! What a great catch. Gosh, I hope the one that was killed was not the mom of babies. But maybe they do not have babies in the fall.

So pretty. Glad you spotted it before the dogs did otherwise you wouldn't have gotten all these great pictures.
There's some not far from where I live. I've seen them running across the road and I've also seen a couple laying on the side of the road. I always hate that

I've always thought the fox was a pretty animal. These are great shots, Marie! I'm a big animal lover, too, and I just read your last post that I missed. It makes me so sad to see how some animals are abused or just dumped out on the side of the road to fend for themselves. How can people do that? I just can't fathom it.
Wishing you a nice weekend!

How precious!! In my whole life, I've only seen ONE fox in the wild. Your photos are perfection Marie. I love 'em all.

Sad to read the report on the road kill!!

Marie! Awesome photos of this little guy! How cool to get to see one at your home. I'm sorry to hear about the one your son saw...poor little guy. I follow a little fox on Instagram named Juniper and I am amazed at the sounds she makes. I am mesmerized by her.
I owe you an email but know that I did receive it and will be happy to help you with your new venture!
Merry Christmas!
xoxo, T.

Pretty- so sad that their den is so close to humans. We rarely see fox here...mostly coyotes and mountain lions.

Have a gret start to your Christmas week tomorrow!

oh my goodness he is just adorable!! The only time I saw a fox was outside my window at an office park where I worked...he'd come up from the woods and strolled by and I was just enthralled.
