Hubby and I took a drive out by Orlando International Airport. We usually see some critters out and about. We stopped by a huge drainage ditch where we had seen storks, turtles and rabbits before. As we approached the ditch we heard something hit the water quickly, way too fast for a turtle. Hubby then spotted the little creatures...baby alligators! Which means Mama is close by! Needless to say we didn't stay long! LOL In every body of water in Florida there is a good chance a gator is in it.
Next time I will post photos of the little gator our son and his friends played with. LOL
They were only about 10 inches long. |
You can see the stripes on this one. |
This is their home... |
Had a hard time seeing this one. Mother Nature knows camouflage! |

Isn't it amazing how nature and animals can find themselves and each other - beautiful. sandie
great shots, it is hard to get them this good when they are so small. and you can bet big old mama was there somewhere... i like the last one best
YIKES on the tunnels, hope you were using a loooonnnn zoom lens
reminds me of betty white in the movie 'lake placid'. :)
YIKES, not even in a river or stream! They must be everywhere!! I love those dual tunnels, the shot you have here. Artistic.
John's parents did live in FL and I was always scared to see the gators.
How neat to see babies!
Except for their heads, they almost look like a snake in the water! You are a brave woman, Marie, to get that close. Just call me "Chicken". :) That's a neat shot of the tunnels, too, with the reflection!
Spectacle for the eyes,
photos special's! hug
Gator babies! (Not even a mouthful, lol.) I like alligators, especially as lunch...or shoes!
My folks live in the Port Charlotte area Marie, a couple of hours from you I believe.

Wow, the nature is amazing isn't it. But surely I wouldn't dare to dip my feet in those waters lol! Enjoy your day
I wouldn't have hung around that spot very long. I'd be afraid I run upon momma!

Nice post. I learn something totally new and challenging on
websites I stumbleupon everyday. It's always useful to read through articles from other writers and practice something from other web sites.
Here is my web site; fantastic golden labrador breeders Information
I think I would have been worried about that mamma gator sneaking up behind me :)
At that age they are sort of cute. I have to admit I had the same thought as TexWisGirl, Betty White and Lake Placid.
I wonder what else lives in there? Can't wait to see the baby gator your son played with.
