The Hummers Are Back

Hummingbirds are always a delight, but so difficult to photograph!  Hubby and I captured these beauties. :)

Hubby captured this juvenile female Ruby-throated Hummimgbird.

Their wings beat up to 80 times per second!

I caught this young male at the feeder.
The spots on the throat make me think he's a juvenile Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

I followed him up to this branch .

It was exciting to watch him relax in the tree!

He's no bigger than three inches!

We got my daughter a couple of feeders and she has enjoyed watching them. We even bought a little swing for them and she caught a shot, but the lighting was bad. She couldn't manage to catch more than a blur on the moving shots, so she just videoed them!

I love to watch the hummers dart from the feeder to a tree limb! Great photos.

These are great captures! I have a feeder out on the porch but usually one zooms in and out faster than a speeding bullet and I can barely enjoy them for a moment let alone try to photograph one! Beautiful shots!

Great shots! I have been meaning to get a hummingbird feeder for years. I should really do it.

They are so fun to watch! Even at rest they are always on alert for "invaders" to their water hole. Their tiny little heads move back and forth..I would get dizzy.

They are hard to photograph. I have found I can sit a chair two feet from the feeder and they still come. I can even hear their little chirps and see their tongues. It is one of my favorite things. But I have to sit very still, and I can't take pictures!

I think you and your hubby did great getting these pictures, Marie!! You are right, they are so hard to photograph. I remember the first time I heard a hummingbird fluttering above me; they are loud too with the fluttering of their wings!

Great shots!
