We seem to get a lot of wildlife visiting us considering we live in the city. We don't mind one bit since we're animal lovers. Monday we spotted a furry animal wearing a mask napping in our Oak tree. Even Mama Squirrel was trying to figure out what was in her tree. It turned out to be a very cute and sleepy Raccoon! Don't worry he didn't show any signs of being rabid. He just kept rolling around trying to get more comfy.
Around 10:00 pm he woke up, walked around the tree a bit and looked down at us and then off he went through the trees. I couldn't stop at a couple of pics. He was just too cute! If only he knew how to relax. LOL!
He was high in the tree. |
He's totally hanging loose! This just makes me laugh! |
There's a BIG yawn. |
On the move perhaps for a more comfy branch? |
He's out again! |
There's Mama Squirrel in the bottom right corner trying to figure out what is in her tree. |
He spotted me! |
He looked down at hubby and I and then off he went. :) |

The sleeping poses are just too funny. We have lots of raccoons around our place but I've never caught one sleeping before. I can see why Mama Squirrel is so curious about this fellow. That is a great (and fun) series of shots Marie.
What is that sweet little raccoon doing in the city? He must like the night life. ;)
I love it that mamma squirrel is 'What's up with this goof hanging out in my tree!" Haha!
Very fun!

I love it when nature's critters stop by for a my pleasures....too cute...thank you for sharing the Racoon shots with us
What a cute little fella!
Too cute!! Looks very ocmfortable indeed! I know we have them in our neighborhoods, but haven't seen one yet :)
have a great day!
betty
ok, i am laughing my head off, that drape across the limb is hilarious. and those glowing eyes. wow. you need to put a sign out for Coon Vacancy on a lower limb, in the daylight hours.
they're so dang cute! we had 5 of them trapped in our bird feeder tree for 2 days - well, the dogs initially trapped them, then they were too afraid to come down, even after i brought all the dogs inside. took everything in my power (rocks, water hose, shaking the tree limbs) to finally get them out. mine were not as relaxed as your cutie pie!
How cute! You got some great shots, Marie. The third from the end is really neat!
I am so impressed with your photos!
Mainly because I have never seen raccoons in the day.
They come out at night here.
Great opportunity for you, super post Marie.
For a city girl this must of been the highlight of your day….
I saw that mask on his face trying to hide who he was, but you figured it out! sandie
I love this photo! Way too cute! You always have pictures that brighten up my day! Have a wonderful week!
Well isn't he just the cutest and so comfy hanging out in that tree. I've had raccoons come to visit before but it's normally to do annoying things like get in to my garbage.
We have raccoons that live behind us and come up on our patio to eat the food we leave out for the feral cats. The babies are always so precious and they always put there little hands up on the glass door to thank us. :)
such cute pictures especially the one of just his face....the poor thing looked drunk hanging over that branch....and better a raccoon then a skunk!!
What wonderful pictures ya captured there. I love the danglin' sleepy ones. I've seen bears hang like that to sleep too and have wondered what keeps 'em from fallin' off in their sleep.
Heck, if it were me I'm fall and break every bone in my bod! Heeehehehe!
God bless ya sweetie and have yourself an awesome weekend!!! :o)
Such cool pics of wildlife! And in Orlando? I'm in Melbourne, about an hour east of you! I just visited a blog whose author is England. This a-z challenge is great! Stop by my "Ballpark." (Clicking on my name will take you there) Good to meet you!
Haha Oh my Gosh!!! that is sooo funny! he must have felt pretty comfy in that tree to "hang" like that!
Thank you for your sweet comment and Happy Belated Birthday!

wow! I had no idea they slept in trees!! we see them all over the place here..but only at night.
fun pics!!
It isn't often that an opportunity like this comes up. You really captured this one. Good work.
I just love when nature comes our way. I live in what I call a small city in Ontario, Canada. Most of my nature pictures are taken in the city, and along the waterfront trail along the Bay, and sometimes in my own backyard. I have never had a raccoon in my backyard though. In saying that I really loved looking at these photos in your backyard and your description.
You got some really great shots and yes very cute indeed.
Dianne :)
