When I was a teenager I had a few friends with horses. It didn't seem to matter how many times I fell off a horse, I always got back on. lol The worse fall I had was when I was riding bareback and following my friend, Billie Jo. Now, Billie Jo owned horses and would compete, I did not. On this day my parents had told me not to go riding, just take a break from it. But why???
So, after I get to Billie Jo's house we jump on the horses and go for a ride. She and her horse took off down the dirt road, made a right turn and jumped a ditch. My horse and I followed, making the same turn, jumping the same ditch, but then I fell off the left side...not good! Off to the ER! I had pulled ligaments in my arm. Lots of pain and lots of physical therapy! To this day I still wake up, from time to time, with my arm feeling like a tight rubber band and I have to work it out slowly. I sure wish I had taken that day off from riding. :)
Do you have any similar regrets?

regrets, i have a few. :)
lovely herd! and some good fence shots, too!
Oh sure I have a horse story I regret too. But it did not stop me from riding!
Horses are beautiful but I was never one of those 'buy me a pony' kids. I'm not fond of the farm smell or farm life. And my one and only time on a horse was a neighbour's. They always rode bareback, so they had me climb on the picnic table and get on the horse. I couldn't get centered and started to slide and had nothing to grab but the mane. He bucked me right off. I thought I broke my back cause the wind got knocked out of me. I never got back on again.
Ouch with your injury! Wonder if your parents just had a feeling about the day.....
Such pretty horses here. I have never been on one (other than the pony rides at fairs). It does sound like it could be lots of fun if one knew what they were doing (which I would not know what I was doing)
betty
they are beautiful. i have never ridden a horse and only petted one here. i did get kicked by a mule when i was 12..
i was always a big chicken and never did anything dangerous, still don't. so no childhood regrets. i do regret getting married right out of highschool to the first and only one that asked
Each of them so pretty and different. Your parents must have had ESP, I am impressed! Yes, there are many things we do that our parents forbid us. It is a part of growing up and teenage rebellion. But it rarely turns out well!
can't say that I have any regrets from when i was growing up. These horses are so pretty. I had a couple friends with horses when I was a kid plus one of my uncles had several.
Not even going to get into regrets, but yes, I have a number of them.
Beautiful horses and photos!
Those horses were sure pretty. So you didn't listen to your mother naughty girl - glad you are okay.
Funny you talk about ligaments - my grandson went to karate tonight and they said the ligament behind his knee looked funny. What kind of doctor do you go to - an orthopedic? I told Kelly I would call someone tomorrow.
Hugs, sandie
WHAT GORGEOUS HORSES!! OH YES I BET YOU DO REGRET THAT DECISION ALL THESE YEARS LATER. I've been on 2 horses in all my years. I love them but I'm just a tad in awe of their size and strength
hugs cecilia
Gorgeous horses and beautiful photos! I do regret falling off a horse when I was young while taking horse riding lessons. What I regret more is never taking another lesson. I had one more ride through a wood when in Ireland. It was wonderful but never got on a horse after that. I do love horses though and if they come up to a fence when I stop I am thrilled.
I have only been riding a couple of times. Love horses and don't know why more often. More a off road motorcycle and boat person. My mother used to tell me to stay out of trees and I fell from one once. She was not happy with the tom boy she had for a daughter, lol...
These horses are gorgeous.
You know it almost sounds as if your mom or dad had an intuitive worry about you that day!
These are beautiful and yes, the one looks like a ghost horse!
Growing up on the farm, I did a lot of horse back riding. The only time I remember falling is when I rode a horse, named Blaze who was kind of skittish, bareback and with just a halter. Bad idea! We were loping down a hill and she came to a screeching halt when a rabbit jumped out in front of us. I sailed right over her head and she then jumped over me! It was a blessing I didn't get kicked in the head!
You got some great shots of those pretty horses! Oh, I wish I were younger and riding horses again.
