Happy Belated Birthday Rambo!

Four years ago on Mother's Day little Rambo showed up at the front door.  He's been with us ever since.  He's now BIG Rambo and weighing in at a solid 97lbs. and handsome as ever!  We're a little behind with his birthday celebration, but he didn't seem to mind. We made him peanut butter and honey cupcakes with vanilla yogurt for the frosting...yummy!

Can I get a woof woof!!!
Happy Birthday Rambo...we love you!

He might be a little spoiled...ha ha

He did share with his siblings. :)

Happy Mother's Day

Only One Mother

Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
But only one mother to dry your eyes,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
But only one mother to have forever
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
But only one mother to help you try
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather,
But only one mother to treat us like treasure
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
But only one mother to help us move on
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
But only one mother the world wide over
Hundreds of people to tell apart
But only one mother to give us her heart

This is a picture of me with my mom.  I'm fortunate to have her and my grandmother in my life and to be blessed with my son.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Big Beautiful Tree

<><>

The Oak Tree

by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr

A mighty wind blew night and day
It stole the oak tree's leaves away
Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark
Until the oak was tired and stark

But still the oak tree held its ground
While other trees fell all around
The weary wind gave up and spoke.
How can you still be standing Oak?

The oak tree said, I know that you
Can break each branch of mine in two
Carry every leaf away
Shake my limbs, and make me sway

But I have roots stretched in the earth
Growing stronger since my birth
You'll never touch them, for you see
They are the deepest part of me

Until today, I wasn't sure
Of just how much I could endure
But now I've found, with thanks to you
I'm stronger than I ever knew

Have a Ducky Day!

This is our Mama Mallard.  She decided to build a nest and lay her eggs in our front yard flowerbed.  We've only seen her off the nest once in the past five days.  We are only four houses and a street from the lake.  I guess there is less competition for nesting in my yard. :)  I will keep all of you updated.  Until then, have a ducky day!

We were spraying her with the hose. LOL

Isn't she pretty!

One Less Rat

We heard the birds and squirrels going crazy!  We knew to grab the camera and run outside.  There was a big hawk carrying a big rat!  I have never seen a rat in my yard.  Squirrels don't count!  I love my squirrels and they are amazing little critters! :)
When I saw the size of the rat I was freaking out because I'm thinking it must have been caught in our neighborhood!  Yuck!!!  Hubby actually took these pics.  The hawk was about 50 ft from us and then he flew to a chimney which made him about 100 ft from us.  I don't like to see them around too often, but this is a beautiful bird.  This one was about 16" to 18" tall.  I try to remind people that hawks are in the area and it's a good idea to keep extra small pets on leashes.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday!

Not Your Typical Mail

I see these little guys everywhere, but when you open your mailbox and they catch you by surprise it can make a girl a little jumpy!  That's when I call on hubby. :)

I once had a baby Black Racer in my mailbox!  I'm pretty sure the neighbors ten houses down could hear me screaming!  Seriously!!!
