While hubby and I were out and about Saturday afternoon I spotted a family of Sandhill Cranes. I asked hubby to drive over to them so I could take some pics. I was about to get out of the car, but good thing I didn't because those beautiful birds had no fear! They came right up to my window!

My word!!! What an amazing sight, these big birds just walking across the street like people!! Were they hungry and looking for food? Is this a common occurrence? I would have been in heaven!!
wow! up close and personal! silly birds!
that one close up looks like he is EYEING you for a meal. amazing, I have only seen them once, Diane sees them out where she lives, further East of me. what fun
Wow, great shots. So were they looking for a handout? Wish I could spot something like that around here.
SandHill Cranes! We have tons of them here in Nebraska during their migration. The fields will be covered with them and boy do they make some noise!! enjoy your up close and personal visit with them. :)
Aren't these funny birds! They look like they were walking right over to have a closer look at you! :)
xo Catherine
Not that is a close-up!
It looks like the bird came over and looked at you then turned and said something to his friends, that is cool.
What neat looking birds. I love how the one on the left has it's legs crossed as if posing in most of the shots! Have a great day!
I really wish I had video camera with me on this day! I'm pretty sure the large bird to the left was the dad. Their youngster was in the middle and mom was to the far right, at least in the first photo. In the last photo the youngster was on the far right side. I've seen these birds before, but never this social!
It's so unfair we can't feed them! They don't bother anyone! We took their homes from them! I enjoyed watching them in our backyard especially the babies!
wow they are big...cool photos...
