White Heron Knocking On My Door...Only In Florida

On Halloween I heard something by the frontdoor and my first thought was it's probably a squirrel. We have small front yards and my neighbors tree has a family of squirrels and the babies have been coming out to play.  So, I peek out the sidelight at my front door and there is this White Heron bobbing his head and eyeballing a lizard!  I wanted to scream for hubby to bring me the camera, but I didn't dare scare this beautiful bird away.  So I carefully closed the front door, walked away and then screamed. LOL!  We got the camera and as soon as I walked out my front door Whitie took off.  I started snapping!  He was just on the other side of my brickwall that's just outside my frontdoor.  He started cruising and I was following!  I'm sharing 8 pictures with all of you, but I took 35 pictures of Whitie!  Only in Florida do you have a Heron knocking at your door. LOL!

Already taking off!

Make sure you look both ways!

And he's off!

Here he had flown across the street and turned around to come back.

Always take time to smell the flowers. :)

That is so cool! You got some great shots. It looks like he got so excited when you came out with the camera he dropped his trick or treat bag. He was hoping you would fill it with lizards. LOL!

I only get cats, possums, and raccoons at my door. A heron would be nice.
