This guy was hanging out on a brick wall in my neighborhood just a couple of nights ago. I didn't have my camera, so I had to go on home grab hubby, a camera and a banana. Luckily when we returned he was still there. He seemed like he enjoyed being the center of attention. I've only had one experience rescuing an Opossum. It was a baby that had been found and I gave it gatorade to keep it from becoming dehydrated. Sandra aka MadSnapper has some great memories of her son rescuing Opossums and other animals. I just love hearing about people, especially children, helping animals. Hope everyone is having a fun weekend!
He's so ugly he's cute! |
A face that only a mother can love. |
Actually, I think he's a cutie. |
He's waiting for us to leave, so that he can climb down the wall to get the banana. |
Finally...I thought they would never leave. :) |

The only experience I have with these guys is when they run out in front of me while driving. I've always thought they were a bit creepy looking :)
so true about the face and a mothers love, i think they are so ugly they are cute. did you know they have very long and very sharp teeth? and have you heard them HISS when they are really mad? they do play possoum and pretend to be dead, once a small one was laying outside our sliding glass door like he was dead, i had let Max in the house and we were watching it. i ran a broom through the small opening in the door and poked it and it did not move. i closed the blinds, waited a minute and opened the blinds and he was gone. when i poked him he did not move at all, just like he was dead.
I think he's cute! I hope he enjoyed his banana. I am thinking he will keep returning if he's going to get good eats at your house. ;)

he is huge! and very cute!!!
You got some good shots of that fellow. I think they are cute. We have one who makes regular trips through our yard. He never bothers anything since he's just passing through. Once in awhile he will come up on the patio and sniff around then continue his journey.
How cool! They are rather like a ghostly apparition in the night, I had one hiss at me once.
I have never seen anyone catch a picture of a possum - that was sooooo cool! Sandie
We have raised many wild animals but not one of these. Mom would feed the racoons out the sliding glass door. She would crack the door and they would put their paws in the door to reach for the food. When young I thought that was cute but know better now.
God bless your day.
they eat everything!! like everything in my garden!
