On the way home today my son and I noticed a Rottweiler
walking by herself. She was headed for a road that leads out to a main road. We spoke with an elderly woman that looked interested in the dog and it wasn't hers, but she was trying to retrieve it to check for tags. She told us there was another dog and she would go look for him while we try to help this doggy. We caught up to the doggy and my son managed to get her to turn around. About 15 minutes later Kyle (my son) had befriended the dog and she was sitting for him. :) She didn't have any tags, so we got her in the car and started knocking on doors. I waved down a police officer and asked him if he knew anything about two missing dogs. Sure enough he was looking for them. A women had called and complained about two dogs bothering her while she was jogging. We showed him the Rottweiler and he asked us to drive down the street to where he already had animal control waiting. The police officer told the lady that he believes the dogs were just trying to play around with her. She didn't have any scratches or anything. He explained to her if those dogs had wanted to hurt her they would have. The officer and the animal control guy were impressed with the Rottweiler. She was just hanging out while we were all talking. We were given an ID# so we can track her online. And the animal control guy posted papers with info throughout the neighborhood. We're hoping her owners will get her back home soon. All of this on the way home from getting bread and eggs. We can never pass up an animal in need. :)
Isn't she a beauty? Pic was taken with my son's camera phone. The leash is from animal control. |
My son was ready to bring her home. :) The nice animal control guy scanned her for a chip and there was none. |

She is a beautiful girl. I'm glad you and your son were able to keep her from getting close to the busy road. She seems so well behaved she has to belong to someone.
This story really shows the importance of micro chipping our pets just in case they get lost.
Since you can track her through the ID you'll have to keep us updated too.

so glad you rescued her from traffic; hope you're able to find her family soon.
she is really beautiful. I am so happy for her you found her and she did not come to harm. she looks well cared for, but how can a dog like that get lost from the owner is my question. i hope they did not put her out. that happens here a lot, they take them out east to farm country and dump them. no tags no chip no way to track her, bad owner is my thought. you and your son did a wonderful thing.
She is beautiful - are you ready to be a new mamma or grandma? sandie
she's so sweet! i hope she is either reclaimed by her owner or adopted by a loving family. i love rotts!!! had had 2 mixes now and both were / are as sweet as can be!

Oh my, Thank you, thank you so very much for helping her and keeping her safe. I hope her family can be found soon, or a new forever family is found for her.
I read your email about this before I went to work this morning but didn't have time to respond to it. So glad that you found the dog before it wandered out into traffic and possibly got hurt. She is a beautiful dog. I hope whoever she belongs to finds her
I have wonderful news...Rottweiler Girl has gone home! I've been checking on her all day. Her pic had been taken offline. Immediately I called Animal Services ane they informed me that her owners had picked her up today. :) I love happy endings!
Nice to see that someone cares!!! Well, is he with your son now, did your son take him? He seems very gentle. Gosh, two dogs at once, wonder if they both belonged to the same person? I'm catching up from Monday off, your post from then is lovely, what is that body of water? I love those trees all in a row.
Beautiful Dog.....

Hi Marie, this is a pretty dog and I'm glad she is a gentle Rott. Here's hoping her owners claim her soon. It's sad to see homeless animals, I'm glad she's being taken care of.
