More Bonding with Teenage Son

After school my son wanted to practice driving, so I agreed as long as we could go to a park to walk and talk.  On the walk we met a few new friends.

Our trip to Blue Ridge, GA

My son took this pic of my husband and I at the cabin, what a view...
We took a trip last October to Blue Ridge, Georgia.  This was a trip to celebrate the three of us becoming a family.  My husband and I were married last December, we're still newlyweds. :)
Even though I'm not great at it, I've always loved taking pictures.  I have a few from the trip that I would like to share.  There are a few that my son did take, I will note them.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

the cows in Georgia are so friendly :)

My son took this because it made a cross

My First Award!

Friday August 26, 2011

An Award

Thanks a bunch to Sandie at http://chattycrone.blogspot.com/.  Her blog will always put a smile on your face!  Sandie knows I'm very new at blogging and it was so sweet of her to include me as one of the seven awardees.

Here are the rules of this award:

1) Thank and link to the person who nominated you.

2) Share 7 random facts about yourself.

3) Pass the award to 12 of your blogging buddies.

4) Notify the recipients

Now she passed this award on and you are supposed to write seven random things about yourself.
Here are seven random facts about myself:
1. I make up words to rhyme with other words, such as foodie woodie (when talking to my doggies),
honey woney (when talking to my husband),  sleepy weepy (when talking to my son), yawny wawny to them all, lol.
2. Can't stand to see anyone litter!!!
3. Out of the blue I often grab my husband's hand and start dancing with him...he loves it!
4. I've never been able to pass up an animal in need.  If I can't help then I call someone who can.
5. My son and I have always taken drives to get ice cream and to talk.  We still do, but now he's driving me.
6. I get very sad to see any elderly person walking in the heat or rain and you know they're walking because they have to not because they want to.
7. Since I was a young girl I have always liked t-shirts that simply read LOVE on them. :)
I'm so new at blogging that I don't know seven bloggers yet.  I have one terrific lady that has helped me almost from day one and I'm choosing her for the award, http://squirrelqueen2.blogspot.com/  The second blogger doesn't participate in awards, but has been a lot of help and we chat about our babies(doggies).  She's another great lady and so I just wanted to at least mention her, Sandra at http://fourpawsetc.blogspot.com/.

Have a great weekend!  And thanks to those that have dropped by to check out my beginner's blog. ;)

My Baby Boy

Meet my baby boy, Kyle.  He's 15, 6'1", is a mama's boy and proud of it, loves his doggies and some days he's such a teenager, lol!  He is a good kid, he has his moments from time to time, but they all do.  He loves to walk up quietly and grab me and pick me up, he thinks it's hilarious and tells me how things are changing since I can no longer pick him up!  I think he remembers this from a childhood book that we always loved, it's called Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.  Any mother that has a son should have this book, it is a very touching story.

Looking through my garden window

Every morning I go into my kitchen for coffee and look through my garden window to see MaMa squirrel  with her babies near by and a pair of Cardinals, that were skittish for the longest time and soon to follow some Doves, Sparrows and Blue Jays.  I have a Humming bird feeder, but I've only seen one Humming bird so far...it was so tiny and beautiful!

One of my favorite quotes about life by Benjamin Franklin

Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen.
Keep in the Sunlight.

Playing Rook on Sunday, life in the fast lane lol!

This Sunday evening consisted of family coming to dinner and a few games of Rook.  I've been hooked on Rook since last Christmas when I got my husband Rook cards for a stocking stuffer.  We sometimes switch to Spades or Hearts, but Rook is the all time favorite around here.

My husband, my son and a banana pudding...

It's Saturday afternoon and my husband and son are asking for banana pudding.  It all started with me going grocery shopping on Friday and I mentioned that I'd be making a banana pudding sometime this week.  Well, 24 hours later my boys are looking for it!  So of course I made it for them and now a few hours later...half is gone!  What is it with guys and banana pudding?  It was always one of my dad's favorites too.  Is banana pudding a favorite in your household?

My doggies are missing their boy

My three doggies are having withdrawels...they miss their boy.  Ever since my son started back to school Roxanne, Rambo and Rocket have really been misbehaving.  As soon as my son walks through the front door he's ambushed by all three doggies, there's no way for him to avoid slobbering puppy dog kisses.  When he's leaving home in the mornings he can barely get out the door, all three doggies are trying to go to school with him.  And during the day they're missing their outdoor play time with my son.  So now they've started the racetrack game inside on a regular basis.  This also consist of showing our teeth to one another, but it's really harmless...they love each other. :)  When the games begin there is always a dog in charge and it's always the same dog, that would be Roxy.  She's the boss and they all know it!  She is an Alpha dog.  I'm going to post a few pics of the my babies having their fun...hope you enjoy.

My teen son has started back to school

My son started his sophomore year today.  My little boy is growing up!  He's pretty excited because he started at a new school.  He attended the local public high school last year, but other than friends and that he made the varsity swim team there's not much to be missed.  It's an "A" school, but it's lacking a lot.  The classrooms are overcrowded and there's disrespectful
students that interrupt the teachers constantly, not a very good learning environment.  I found a nice small Christian school that we are all happy with and now that's the school he attends.
What a difference it makes when a teacher actually has time for each student and that students feel important and they actually have time to ask questions.

Animals in my life

I've always had animals in my life and I wouldn't change a thing.  When I was very young, my dad and I raised an orphaned bird.  At my grandma's house I always had kitty cats.  At home I had a doggy for the most part.  In my twenties I started helping with wildlife rescue.  I've raised baby squirrels from before they opened their eyes.  I would have to keep them warm and get up through the night to feed them.  This was good practice of how life would be once I had my son:).  I've had two kitty cats, Tigger and Taffy.  And now I have three doggies, there's pics of them in another post.  Two of them are rescues.  Outside we have squirrels and birds that we feed regularly and in return they give us cheap entertainment, ha ha.  MaMa squirrel lives in our Oak tree down in the "V", I call it her condo.  She's great, she will climb on our garden window and ask for more food.  Our dogs and squirrels share the backyard better than expected.  We really love to cookout and hangout in the backyard, reading in the hammock or better yet looking up into the beautiful sky and trees and just watching nature.

Life here is lonely...thank you to the few that have joined ;)

I log into my blog and get excited to check my stats and I see that I've had a few new visits, but no new comments :(.  The Squirrel Queen has been very supportive and helpful and I enjoy her blog tremendously.
I've had viewers from USA, Germany, Canada and even Saudi Arabia, wow.  Looking forward to hearing from women all over.  There's always something going on in every life of a women.
I saw my hairdresser today and she's Godmother to two children.  She's very helpful in their daily lives.  So, we usually talk about kids and the world today.  When I talk to my best friend, she's always wondering when she'll be getting engaged with her boyfriend, how old will she be when they have their first child and how old will she be when the last one graduates high school, ha ha.
We women are hilarious!  Come and share whatever is going on in your life here where woman talk about life.

Making time to Blog

I'm still here and determined to figure this blogging stuff out. ha ha!  This has been a very hectic time.  It's the last week before my son starts school and we're not finished with our "to do" list yet.  He still needs his haircut and a few more school items....like a $100 calculator for geometry...wow!  High school is getting expensive, maybe they're preparing us for college expenses, lol!  Maybe this weekend will be more relaxing.  I don't know how my grandmother managed with eight kids!  God Bless you mothers out there with 3,4 or more children.

I probably should let my son help me with my blog because I'm sure he knows more about the internet than I do.  I wish I were a natural on here, but I'm not.  Today I've taken some time to look at a few other blogs and I'm real impressed with people's creativity.  And I've learned that there are constantly new bloggers.  So, let's help each other out!  If you drop by on my blog, please say hello and I'll stop by your blog and say hello.  Got to go for now, everyone have a great day!

Help from afar...SquirrelQueen

Today I got advice from www.squirrelqueen2.blogspot.com.  She's in Washington State and I'm in Florida.  Is the internet great or what???  I started following her blog and within hours she had become my first member, welcomed me to the world of blogging and gave some very valuable advice.  Thank you, thank you and thank you!  This is the type of person that you want to have around in life.  You might be having a not so great day and then there's someone like SquirrelQueen there to lend a helping hand.  This is all new to me, but one day I will be able to give advice and help a rookie with their blog.  Life is good!

No time for driving with the teenager this weekend, playing with the doggies or husband, lol

Let's start with Friday, a visit to a Neurosurgeon.  Yep, he recommends surgery, always fun to think of someone operating near your spinal cord.  Seems that I have herniated discs in my cervical spine and a bone spur, ouch!  I was aware of some of this and it's time to decide on surgery, can't put it off any longer.  The rest of Friday was a good day.  My son started his new very part time job, I'm very proud of him and happy he will have some spending money other than mine. ha ha.

Then there's Saturday, I woke up early a.m. and had an awful sinus headache.  I started taking medication in hopes I would wake up later and it would be gone.  Nope, I woke back up later that morning and headache was worse and I felt sick to my stomach.  I can't be sick, especially on a weekend!  That means no date with the hubby, no shopping with the best friend and no playing in the sprinklers with the doggies and last but not least, no driving with my wonderful son.  And that's exactly what happened!  I ended up sick all weekend and did nothing but let my hubby feed me toast.  Let me tell you, eating in bed is over-rated!  I had crumbs everywhere!  My puppy dogs were staying close to me which was really sweet, until they would hear the neighbor dogs barking and they would start their barking.  Other then that they were big babies and wanted to get in bed with me.  My Rambo thinks he's a puppy, he doesn't understand he's a 95 lb. big dog, not exactly a lap dog.

On Sunday around 4:00 p.m.  I woke up and realized that my headache wasn't as bad and I could actually talk without feeling like my head would explode.  I can't remember the last time I had such an awful headache.  First thing I did was call my grandma and let her know I was better, she had called and was concerned about me.  She's the best!  I'm so lucky to have her, she'll be 82 this year.  Next, I took a shower and then hubby made some dinner.  Dinner was so good, especially after eating toast and saltines for two days.

This evening I did some more research on blogging, there's so much to learn.  I really hope this blog works out and I meet some women on here and who knows maybe a bunch of us will be meeting for lunch one day.  Follow your dreams and your passions and it will all work out, that's what I believe.  Hope to hear from you soon...
